Life-centred Design Meets Sustainable UX
HAMBURG, EUROPE – June 2025
FREE TALKS AND INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP
The SUX Network and SUX Hamburg presented this very special event: Australian Founder of Life-centred Design Lab, and author of the The Life-Centred Design Guide, Damien Lutz, visited Europe and made a stop in Hamburg for this joined event about Sustainable Design, together with Thorsten Jonas, Founder of the Sustainable UX Network, and Sandy Dähnert, Founder of Green the Web.
Damien, Sandy, and Thorsten each gave a lightning talk about their work and approaches before opening into a panel discussion and fishbowl for attendees to join in on the conversation with their thoughts and questions.
We then used the energy from our discussions to fuel a micro-workshop where we participants experienced concrete tools from Life-Centred Design Lab and the Sustainable UX Playbook to explore the impacts of Gen AI and potential positive innovations.

The More-than-human Alliance | Climate Action Week 2025
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – March, 2025
A FREE INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP IN CONJUNCTION WITH UTS
“In 2030, the City of Sydney refers development proposals to the More-Than-Human Alliance to ensure that plants, animals, and ecosystems have a voice in shaping the future…”
This was the premise of our Climate Action Week workshop last night at UTS Transdisciplinary School, where Susie Pratt, Stephanie Bhim, Samuel Yu and I immersed 16 participants into this speculative future.
We guided curious participants into taking on the roles of the More-Than-Human Alliance, each embodying a different plant, animal, or environment through the use of Non-human Personas. Their mission? To review proposed changes to Sydney’s New Year’s Eve celebration activities and advocate for the needs of their non-human wards.
The night was filled with inspiring ideas on integrating more-than-human perspectives into mainstream decision-making.

2023—Free Workshop, Designing a future life-centred product with speculative designers using non-human personas
As a guest workshop facilitator for Speculative Design Sydney, I introduced participants to life-centred thinking via a workshop set in 2030, where participants designed with AI, future tech, life-centred design, and a non-human persona to speculate a future life-centred version of an everyday product.
In four teams, we explored a future world that prioritises repairing and reusing over making new things by designing a future, life-centred mattress system, shifting it from being a ubiquitous product that uses a lot of resources and creates a lot of landfill to one that causes less harm and regenerates nature.
