THE LIFE-CENTRED DESIGN WORKSHOP PART 1
Do Less Harm
with Design
A lifecentred.design workshop in which you’ll discover design strategies and business models to reduce carbon, waste, pollution, and exclusion to start aligning with global goals
Overview
You want to reduce the environmental and social harm of your activities—what and how you take from the earth, and any waste and pollution you give back.
Join us for a lifecentred.design session in which you’ll discover the design strategies that reduce carbon, waste, pollution, and exclusion and learn how to minimise their uses and impacts.
In this 4.5-hour workshop, you’ll also learn how to foster the three life-centred design pillars using system thinking, circular and inclusive design, and applying to UX, UI, and content. And we’ll enlist the help of behavioural design to inform your users and inspire their own life-centred behaviours.
The output of these strategies can support ESG commitments and complement existing carbon reduction, energy transition, and sustainable commitments.

Aim
This workshop aims to teach you how to make design choices in terms of low energy use, safer and sustainable material choice, higher inclusivity and accessibility, and user responsibility, to start aligning your work with global goals for sustainability and social justice.
Designing physical products and experiences with low energy use and high inclusivity that also look and feel exciting can be a challenging process, so you’ll learn the basics with hands-on activities and tools you can keep.
You’ll get to experiment with different tools and hear each other’s experiences. Through this process, you’ll enrich your team’s learning, from decision-makers higher up to designers working at the coal-face, so that you emerge aligned with a common mindset that helps you consider more than human needs while still achieving business goals.
